We find ourselves in Downtown Pittsburgh for Jackie and Akileo’s wedding day. It seems like yesterday that the three of us were down the street for an engagement session in The Cultural District. Today we started off at the historic Renaissance Hotel overlooking Pittsburgh’s Northside. There the two were getting prepared for the ceremony. Akileo was grinning from ear-to-ear when I arrived, it only took him a few minutes to get ready, he was so excited to get things started. Jackie was a few floors up and she and her mother were having their hair done. Although a bit nervous about the weather, she was happy that the day had arrived. Akileo met Jackie for a first look outside of their hotel, once their eyes met the stress of bad weather seemed a distant memory. They were going to be wed today, that’s all that mattered. After a quick transition to The National Aviary, the two met with friends and family and the ceremony commenced. The flower girl’s energy set the tone for the occasion while Jackie’s brother moved a tear or two from the bottom of his eyelids. After a few moving vows, the sky started opened up and cold rain began to descend on the ceremony. And yet rain could not wash away the joy that our bride and groom were experiencing. As I sat there soaked, wiping the condensation from my camera, I noticed that they never lost eye contact, at that moment, only “they” mattered. After the ceremony, the dancing began, and the celebration carried on through the night……Who would have known that a random encounter in Kennywood would lead to nuptials a few years later. Thanks, and congratulations.
