Bethany and Sloan met at West Virginia University in the old-fashioned way- a house party. Bethany broke the ice by giving Sloan a quick kick. A conversation quickly ensued, and Sloan promptly invited her to dinner at the Volcano Japanese Restaurant. In what felt like the shortest five hours on record, each tried to learn as much as they could about the other. In time, they discovered they, indeed, were perfect matches.

After a few years, these Mountaineers would be tested when Sloan moved to Arizona for medical school at the Mayo Clinic. Yet, the distance would only deepen their profound affection for each other. Soon after, Bethany visited The Grand Canyon State, where she was greeted with a ring, a question, and her partner.
