It all started with an ugly sweater... A few years ago while Cary and her friends walked into Meadowlark, a bar in Denver, Colorado. One of Cary's friends, Leah, saw Eli and his sweater at the bar. Although she didn't know him, she felt compelled to introduce the two of them to one another. Soon they began to chat about anything and everything, using their healthy sense of humor to guide the tempo of their impromptu conversation. From that day forward, Eli would be called "Sweater," a nickname he's been happy to own. Over the years, they became an inseparable pair, navigating the ups and downs of life. As time passed, Cary began to yearn to return to Pittsburgh, and Eli, so Eli felt Pittsburgh would be the perfect place to start graduate school. Eli loves Pittsburgh, but he also loves Cary, and with time things started falling into place. He bought into the Yinzer culture, they bought a house, and Eli took a knee.
Today Ben, Mitch, and Donna, Eli's immediate family, made their way to the end of the culdesac and Cary's childhood home. As soon as they pulled in, a few rainclouds started to move; but no bother; nothing could wash away the day's delight. The two didn't need an officiant. They would solidify their union themselves. After the ceremony, their guest shared kind words, photos, and past reflections. Some images sparked laughter, while others brought on tears. And after all that emotion, the bride's father capped it off by bringing out an old guitar, debuting a song dedicated to the occasion, reminding everyone of what's most important in this life. Congratulations, Cary and Eli, you do indeed "Get-it-all."
