In a serendipitous encounter at L.A. Fitness, Caroline and Matt found one another while warming up on ellipticals, each catching the other’s eyes and never letting go. Today Nicki Dembski and I had the great pleasure of celebrating their union. Caroline and her friends traded stories from high school and college while getting ready in the city’s historic Renaissance Hotel while Matt made his way through the Picklesburgh traffic to find his bride. While looking upon the Allegheny River, Matt felt a tap on his shoulder and with a turn, there she was, a sight that moved them both to tears. Once they had a moment to embrace, we made our way to the North side’s National Aviary where they wed beneath the warm summer sky. The wedding party had the crowd rolling with speeches that were engaging and comical. Yet with every joke, each speech ended with a reference to how selfless the couple was, not only when it came to one another but to everyone in attendance. Once the speeches were complete and the cake was put away, everyone sprang onto the dance floor for the remainder of the evening.
