David and Mamuyan celebrated their special day under the green branches of Pittsburgh’s National Aviary. I met David and his friends inside a side street walkup on Pittsburgh’s Northside. David was super focused, putting the final touches on vows. Once he’d finished, his long-time friends entered the room and the fellas began giving a few playful jabs at one another, the type of comradery that is authentic and developed through life experiences. Once they tied their ties and made their way towards the Aviary, which was down the street, I caught up with Mamuyan. There her mother was helping her prepare as friends and family looked on, overcome with excitement. Once we arrived at the Aviary, you see that David seemed to be floating with pride. He glided down the aisle and could hardly stand still as his bride-to-be gracefully made her way to meet him. A man who’s usually fun-and-games, took a moment to tell the love of his life what she meant to him during the vows, words he didn’t need to practice much, because he’d always known them to be the reality. Mamuyan shared similar praise for her spouse with a ring and complimentary smile, and they soon walked out hand-in-hand. After the ceremony the couple, along with their guests, met a penguin with attitude and an Owl whose curiosity kept his eyes on everyone. The dance floor soon ignited with a combination of African cultural dances along with some more modern two-steps. I thoroughly enjoyed myself this evening and wish the happy couple all the best in their new lives together. Best Wishes, -Sean
