Today Rachel and Ben celebrated their nuptials at Soldiers and Sailors Hall. In the early afternoon, friends and family entered the grand hall and sat back in blue seats as the wedding party entered the room. Ben entered at the right, standing straight, decorated with his uniform, a fitting complement to the hall and the occasion. He looked great. Rachel and Father then came into the room, descending down the aisle passing a village of supportive friends and family. The ceremony was sweet. The two kept their eyes on one another throughout, every smile reciprocated with another mirroring the other. After a few well wishes by the officiant, they met in the middle for a kiss that was cheered by everyone in attendance. Following the ceremony, the two gathered for a few portraits and entered the ballroom where their freshly united family was there to welcome them. One of the things that I took from the ceremony was how important earlier generations were to the two of them. There was Rachel’s grandfather, who watched her grow a child. Ben’s father gave a toast to not only the couple, but also to his own father, who Ben idolized for not only his commitment to his country having served in WWII, but also his commitment to family, as he and his wife had been married for over seventy years. An incredible model who everyone in attendance appreciated. Throughout the evening, there were numerous shows of affection and jubilation around the couple’s union. I had a great time tonight and felt lucky to be around such a happy event with very good people. All the best to you both as you begin your next chapter in life.
