Emily and Ben's day has arrived. Beginning in Oakland, a few blocks down from Ben's alma mater, CMU, the two chose Bellefield Presbyterian to have their ceremony, a historic staple in the student-centered area around Pitt. Before taking steps down the aisle, the two shared a quick prayer as they prepared for the day ahead. After the ceremony, they headed to Mellon Park for a few photos. Stepping into the park, the leaves and flowers seemed to have postponed their transition to fall for this day, as everything was still in full bloom.
After taking some portraits, the couple proceeded to the reception at the Maverick Hotel in East Liberty, a historical building that was once a YMCA in the community. Upon entering the venue, a live band greeted the guests. After a bit of last-minute practicing, Emily's sister delivered an emotional speech during the reception, highlighting their journey to Ireland. It was evident to onlookers that the experience was meaningful to both sisters. Following the toast, guests were pleasantly surprised to discover that the couple had hired a local Celtic band to provide music and dance lessons, which delighted everyone in attendance. After a few missteps, everyone synchronized their footsteps to the river dancing, and a communal sense of jubilation ensued. As the newlyweds drove away, a proper sparkler sendoff marked the beginning of their next chapter.
Congratulations!
